Post Pregnancy Haze

Can you tell that we've had a 'little' adjusting to do at home lately?
Schedules and routines have been changed and everything has been affected including my blogging. The babies are doing great...eating, sleeping, and making dirty diapers. Occasionaly, we see those beautiful eyes open, as they take in the world around them, but mostly it's us watching them contently sleep next to one another.

Introducing Our Twin Boys!

The best made plans always seem to never happen the way that you want them to or the way that they should. We had a scheduled 37th week c-section, but on Thursday afternoon our "best made plans" had to change quickly due to the fact that my water broke while at home at 4pm. More on the complete delivery later...

My Final Week - The 36th Week

It's my eleventh week of bedrest and it's my last week of the twins' pregnancy (36 weeks is gestational for twins). Of course it's bitter sweet with lots of emotions beginning to flood in. Somehow through this long and difficult journey I made it to my goal - I'm not a marathon runner but I just crossed the finish line and I couldn't be happier! This was definitely my hardest pregnancy (and my last). I had morning sickness day and night during the 1st trimester. As well as 2 stomach viruses and a cold - a very yucky time. The 2nd trimester was the best because I was feeling good and looking forward to really enjoying the rest of the pregnancy. Then came January 3rd, our first ultrasound and the shock of our lives - 20 fingers and 20 little toes...surprise you're having twins! I don't think I stopped giggling that whole night - can you say "nervous energy". The 3rd trimester has been a challenge in more ways than one and it's been the biggest struggle in my life so far, but my body has somehow managed to keep up and make it to mile 36! We're ready for Monday morning to meet these two little boys that have already kept us on our toes for the last 8 months!

My LAST ultrasound appointment!!!!!! Wouldn't you know it Ryan
flipped again and is back in the breech position!

Having a hot flash while at the doctor's office is never comfortable. But luckily I had Andrew there today to make me laugh and take my mind off of everything!

A School Baby Shower

My wonderful 1st grade team threw me and the twins a fun shower last week.
There was lots of cake, punch, friends, blessings, well wishes, laughs, presents,
and most of all lots of familiar smiles that I've missed over the last 10 weeks!

Thanks so much Ladies!

Finally...Introducing The Nursery

I think all nursery remodels are a "labor" of love, and ours was no different!
Starting with the paint color...not what we thought it would be, but under
some time constraints there was no turning back. I would have preferred a
darker shade but with all the furniture finally in place and some accent
color on the walls, it's ready to become home for our little boys.

We're starting with one crib and co-sleeping the twins together.
Hopefully, they'll prefer it too...we'll just have to wait and see!

Andrew's mom (GeeGee) painted this when Taylor was born.
It hung in his room until recently when we switched rooms and
hung it in the hallway.

Now, we have two originals hanging in our house!

Cuteness!

My sister-in-law Vikki has a friend that makes these cute canvas door displays. What an awesome idea for welcoming babies at the hospital and into your own home! Our nursery colors are blue and chocolate brown with an African Safari animal theme. She matched it perfectly without really even seeing the nursery.  The coolest part, besides the cute elephants and printed names, is the different areas which you personally fill in once the babies arrive:

The date and time they each arrive

Their weights

Their lengths

Parents names

If you have a friend or family member that is expecting, I highly
recommend a beautiful personal gift like this! Contact me if you're
interested and I'll forward your request on to the artist Lauren.

Happy Easter!

This has been my busiest weekend in a very long time, and wouldn't you know it my body tried to reject every part of it but I fought threw it, heat and swelling and all!

(We are also feeling very BLESSED this weekend that NOBODY in our family was injured because Andrew ended up chasing a golf cart into the lake at work (up to his waist - golf clothes and clubs too), Garrett's boat flipped over and almost sank during the night, and Uncle Tony and Aunt Melissa were side swiped by a dunk driver. It was an interesting weekend, but THANK GOODNESS we're all safe!!!!)

Taylor got a dip in the lake and a boat ride in cousin Garrett's fishing boat on Lake Austin

We enjoyed beautiful Lake views while enjoying a delicious fish fry dinner

We headed to the neighborhood's Annual Easter Egg hunt the next morning

No Golden Egg this year

Getting a blue snake with a red tongue

Back to the Lake house for some pool time with Aunt Vikki and egg decorating with Cousin Megan

Counting Down the Days Now!

Somehow, miraculously, we've made it 9 long weeks since I was told that I had to go on bedrest for the remainder of this pregnancy. As the ultrasound technician put it so eloquently today, "I don't know how you did it with your cervix as short as it was and with two babies being as low as they are". Changes are definitely starting to begin and they truly could come any day now if they wanted to. However, I'm holding out for the golden number of 36 weeks! At which point the boys will be breathing fine and won't have to stay in the NICU at all...hopefully.

Today at my ultrasound appointment: heartbeats were strong, movement was VERY evident, breathing movements were noted, amniotic fluid still looked good around both babies, Ryan was still breech, and Jacob's head was clearly extremely low and in a very uncomfortable position for his momma. Everything still seems to be looking good...next week we'll get another round of full baby measurements. If they were 4.5lbs two weeks ago, you'd have to think that they'll be close to 6lbs. next week.

At my OBGYN appointment: we scheduled my c-section for Monday, April 23rd (if I make it - lol), discussed the procedure since Taylor was natural and not a c-section, measured my belly from top to bottom at 45 inches, noted my total weight gain thus far as 40lbs (and I swear it's ALL in the front because I can't move anymore), and I was dilated to 2.25 cm which is about 1 cm more than last week!

CAUTION LARGE BELLY PICTURE BELOW...

Where my hand is placed is exactly where Jacob's head is - you can feel it - crazy!! You can also feel their backs side-by-side running along either side of my nonexistent belly button.
I finally feel like "large Marge" or a "beached whale" - haha!
